2016 - Present Invited Member of Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest Arts and Sciences honor society in the United States. Founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary, it annually elects no more than the top 10% of Arts and Sciences graduates. In the entire US, only 283 colleges and universities have met the standards to house a PBK chapter. UC’s chapter was founded in 1898. Thus, this invitation to join Phi Beta Kappa makes you part of a truly distinguished and elite group. Membership in this organization is a widely recognized mark of distinction.
January 2016- May 2016 Study Abroad in Turks and Caicos Islands- Marine Resource Conservation, School for Field Studies
I am going to run short of words to explain how significant and life changing this particular experience was. In short, for the first half of this study abroad, I studied Tropical Marine Ecology, Principles of Marine Resource Management, and Environmental Policy and Socio-Economic Values and in the later half I worked on a directed research where on the basis of one month data collection I analysed the resilience of coral reefs of South Caicos.

2015-2016 Member of Society for Ecological Restoration
March 2014 Study Abroad in Brazil - Exploring the Amazon Rainforest
As a part of a Tropical Ecology class, we spent 15 days exploring the Brazilian Amazon by Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. We lived on a boat for that time period and each student worked on their individual projects along with day-night hikes and day-night boat trips to study the ecosystem. My focus project was on recording the kind of food Amazonians eat along with some of their recipes. As a part of this project I interacted with a lot of “river people” in my broken portuguese and interpretative sign language, and of course through smiles. The end result was a cookbook and replicating a few meals for the class.

2013 Study Abroad in France - Exploring Contemporary Art of Paris
As a part of a Contemporary Arts class, we spent 10 days in Paris to explore how art evolved in different eras and how the ideologies were influenced. My focus project for this class was on interpretation of three “artworks”: The Mona Lisa painting, The Eiffel Tower and The Lady and the Unicorn painting.
