Research in the Plant Tissue Culture Lab at CREW
CREW, The Carl H. Lindner Jr. Family Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife is one of its own kind of facility throughout the world which has contributed in the conservation and protection of endangered plants and animals. It is situated at the Cincinnati Zoo and botanical gardens ten minutes walk from our campus. I got to visit the Cincinnati Zoo last September when I specially went to visit the CREW building. It was one of my dreams to be at the CREW facility. I was introduced to CREW in one of the honors seminars that I took in my freshmen year.
Every day when I used to enter the CREW facility there used to be a big smile on my face and I used to leave with this enthusiasm that I am helping in making this world a better place. It was one of the best and most enjoyed experience of two years of college. Even though this time the winter was really bad and it used to take me a trip of thirty to forty minutes to reach the CREW from my apartment but I never felt that it was a hectic schedule for me.
I presented this research along with my other research project as an Oral Presentation at the UG Science Symposium. It was another experience that I gained as a part of this experience. Even though I had presented projects before at an even bigger stage during my high school but the biggest part here was inviting your own guests otherwise I would have been presenting in an empty room. The best feeling was to see my guests cheering me up with their smiling faces. I have always been supported by my family and friends back home but I am fortunate to have such a supporting faculty, staff and friend circle even miles away from my home. That overall experience boosted up my confidence and now I am going to continue to work in the lab.
